About IDE Smilez

We are not a clinic. We are a movement.

IDE Smilez Public-Health Foundation exists for one reason: to make preventive oral health care ordinary in India — in every classroom, panchayat, workplace and home.

Why "Indian Dental Express"

The name is the model

An express does not wait for passengers to find the station. It runs a route, on a timetable, reaching places the ordinary service never does.

That is the whole idea behind IDE Smilez. Indian dentistry has never lacked skill — it has lacked reach. Care sits in cities and waits for pain to arrive. We invert it: we run a route, we keep a timetable, and we arrive before the pain does.

IDE Smilez is the unified public brand for that work — the community camps, the school programme, the mobile units, and the national mission we call Project Bharat. It is registered as a Section 8 not-for-profit company, so every rupee is bound to the mission by law rather than by promise.

🎯

Our vision

An India where no one loses a tooth, a jaw or a life to a disease that was entirely preventable — and where a child's first dental visit happens years before their first cavity.

🧭

Our mission

To deliver structured preventive oral health care — screening, education and early referral — to one lakh Indian villages and ten thousand schools, and to leave behind trained local people who continue the work between our visits.

01

Prevent

Find disease at the stage where a toothbrush, a diet change or a ten-minute procedure is still enough.

02

Promote

Teach oral health in the local language, to the whole group, before anyone is examined.

03

Empower

Train village champions, teachers and volunteers so the knowledge outlasts the camp.

Founder's message

"We kept treating the same mouths, year after year."

For years I watched the same patients return with the same problems — a little worse each time, a little more expensive each time. We were skilled, we were busy, and we were losing. Not because dentistry does not work, but because it arrives too late to matter.

The turning point was a school screening. Two hundred children, and more than a hundred and fifty needed treatment. Not one of them knew it. Not one had been told, in their own language, how a tooth actually decays. We had been handing out cures to people who had never been offered the prevention.

IDE Smilez is the correction. We go first, we teach before we treat, and we stay long enough for it to matter. If you are a dentist reading this: your Sunday is worth more in a village than you think.

Our journey

How we got here

A short history, and where the next milestone sits.

THE BEGINNING

Weekend camps

A handful of dentists running free screening camps around Bangalore on Sundays, out of their own pockets.

SCALING THE METHOD

The school programme takes shape

Screening alone changed little. Adding a taught session, a referral card and a follow-up visit changed a great deal — and became our standard protocol.

2026

Formal incorporation

Registered as a Section 8 not-for-profit company — CIN U88900KA2026NPL220159 — with a registered office in Bangalore South, Karnataka.

NOW

Project Bharat

The national mission begins: one lakh villages, quarterly camps, and two trained health champions in every adopted village.

NEXT

Ten mobile dental units

Reaching hamlets, tea gardens and hill blocks where the nearest dentist is more than sixty kilometres away.

Dates and milestones are placeholders drawn from the brief. Replace with your verified organisational history before launch.

What we hold ourselves to

Five working principles

Prevention before treatment

If a camp only fixes teeth, it has failed. Every camp must leave behind understanding.

Consent and dignity

Nobody is examined without informed consent. No photograph is taken without permission. No patient is a prop.

Referral, not abandonment

A red-flag finding is tracked to a real appointment at a real hospital — not written on a card and forgotten.

Local language, always

Health advice that people cannot understand is not health advice.

Honest numbers

We publish what we did, including the camps that under-delivered. Inflated impact helps nobody.
