Rural Village Adoption

We adopt a village for three years — baseline survey, quarterly camps, and two trained local champions who carry it on.

🌾 Overview

What this programme is

This is the heart of Project Bharat, and the programme we are most protective of. A one-day rural camp is a photograph. A three-year adoption is a public-health intervention.

The difference is measurement. Because we survey the village at the start and again at the end, we can say whether untreated decay actually fell — and publish it either way.

What is included

Every time we run it

  • A household-level baseline oral-health survey, conducted with panchayat consent
  • Quarterly camps for three years — twelve visits, not one
  • Annual oral-cancer screening for every adult over 30 in the village
  • School and anganwadi sessions on every visit
  • Training and equipment for two village health champions, usually an ASHA worker and a teacher
  • A year-three repeat survey, compared against baseline and published
Who it is for

Three main hosts

Gram panchayats

Any panchayat can request adoption. Local body consent is the first requirement, not a formality.

NGOs with district presence

You bring trust and mobilisation; we bring the clinical protocol and the dentists.

Sponsors & CSR partners

A full three-year adoption is costed and sponsorable as a single named unit.

How it runs

Four steps on the ground

01

Consent & baseline

Panchayat agreement, then a household survey covering tobacco use, water fluoride and school roll.

02

Quarterly cycle

Camp, education, screening, referral — repeated twelve times over three years.

03

Champion training

Two locals trained to spot warning signs, run brushing sessions and escalate to us.

04

Handover

Year-three survey, outcome comparison, formal handover to the champions. Then we move on.

💡 We will not adopt a village we cannot reach quarterly for three years. Turning down an adoption we cannot sustain is better than starting one we will abandon.
